Wellness for ALL.

Wellness is for all people. Wellness shouldn’t be expensive or unattainable. Wellness is a collective experience.

Whether you’re a student, educator, family, or community member these resources were made for you. We use the Six Pillars of Lifestyle Medicine to help envision what community wellness could look like. Together we create the reality where Wellness is a human right.

Mental Health

Mental Health is so much more than just “stress management” or “coping”. It’s an exploration of our thoughts, emotions, and their connection to our sense of self and our motivations.

Relationships

We are in Relationships with all the people, systems, and communities around us. So many of us were not taught how to grow nourishing connections. Let’s change that.

Sleep

Sleep isn’t just about the 8 hours you’re “supposed” to get at the end of the day. Sleep is about our ability to rest, recharge, and restore on the physical, mental and spiritual level.

Substances

We consume Substances every day to change the way we feel or the thoughts we think. We’re not just talking drugs or alcohol. We’re also talking tech, caffeine, even music!

Nourishment

This is traditionally thought of as “nutrition”. We changed it to Nourishment. Because that’s what we’re doing here. Nourishing our mind, body, and spirit with food and drink.

Movement

Movement helps us understand our relationship to our physical bodies; these vessels we move through the world in. Think less ableist and more relationship building with yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Health is Wealth. At the BRIDGE, when we think about wellness, we think about it from the perspective of our mind, body, spirit, emotions, and community. The American College of Lifestyle Medicine looks at six interconnected pillars of health when thinking about our overall health and wellbeing: mental health, substances, sleep, social relationships, nutrition, and movement.

Up until very recently, Mental Health was not considered a very important part of our overall health and wellbeing. Yet, mental health issues contribute to many of the physical health issues that pop up throughout our lifespan. Someone who is super depressed may not have the motivation to live an active lifestyle, socially isolate, and have no hope for their future. They may stop taking care of their physical bodies, disengage from community, and spiral downwards.

You'll find a ton of resources for all of the pillars here. We focus on the mental and social aspects of our health and wellbeing heavily at the BRIDGE as our team comes from diverse disciplines within the mental and behavioral health field.

  • The American College of Lifestyle Medicine is an organization of practitioners across disciplines who center holistic wellbeing and integrated care. The ACLM prioritizes preventative care. While they focus mainly on the effects of Nutrition and Movement from the practitioner lens, the ACLM framework recognizes that all of our lifestyle choices have the opportunity to either increase or decrease our chances of chronic illness. Our medical system and insurance system was set up to deal with illness after it occurs instead of mitigate the risk factors that could cause illness in the first place. ACLM turns this model on its head and focuses on how we can prevent some of the most deadly chronic illness through lifestyle choices.
